1. Listen to Some Live Music

Better yet, dance to some live music! Find a summer concert series in your area, an outdoor concert from a fun band, or a even a dive bar with a great patio and live bands! Find the music, find some friends, and find your rhythm. A night of dancing in the summer air is just what you need.

2. Go to A Boardwalk

Find a boardwalk with the works – rides, games, cotton candy, all of it! Go on the rides, play the games, and spend an afternoon of fun just being a kid again. Check out some cute souvenir shops, play mini golf, and have an ice cream cone after dinner! If no boardwalks by you, find a carnival!

3. Check Out a Flea Market

Flea Markets are fun to check out in the summertime! Grab a friend, a cute flowy dress, and your sunglasses and get there early to find the best treasures. Scour the tables and look for interesting pieces that speak to you. Start collecting something to make the search more fun & make sure to haggle for the best price! 

4. Go Kayaking

Kayaking is a a great way to spend a sunny summer day – and it’s great exercise too! Find a nearby lake, bring your kayak (or rent one) and explore. Look for turtles and ducks, go solo or with friends. Just remember your sunscreen, life jacket, and snacks!

5. Go on a Road Trip

Road trips are a classic summer activity – windows down, hair blowing in the wind, loud music playing. Pick a destination and go! Explore a new city, get to the beach, or travel for some good shopping! Go somewhere you’ve never been and spend a few days embracing just being away from every day life.

6. Take a Hike

Find some great hiking trails near you that you can try with a couple of friends. Make a day of it – pack a lunch, bring water, and take some cool pictures! Hike a mountain, follow a creek to see where it ends, or even just take a nature walk in the woods. Be in the moment and enjoy the natural beauty around you!

7. Attend a Car Show

8. Sit Outside and Read a Good Book

Get yourself comfortable in a rocking chair, hammock, outdoor couch, or on a quilt in your yard. Give yourself some time to just sit and read and enjoy some relaxing time alone. Read something light and summery like The Boardwalk Bookshop by Susan Mallery or The Beach House by Rachel Hannah.

9. Plant Some Flowers

Stop by a local nursery and grab a new flower plant to spruce up your yard (or balcony, deck, etc.) Pretty new blooms are exciting to see every day and give you a reason to get outside. 10. Spend a Day at the Beach

Pack your gear up for the day and head to the beach! It’s one of the best summer activities possible –  get your feet in the sand and the sunshine on your face. Bring a portable speaker for some tunes and frolic in the ocean waves like you’re a kid. Pick seashells, search for sea glass, and rock that new bikini you’ve been dying to wear!

Paddleboarding has become increasingly popular in recent years. If you haven’t tried it – what are you waiting for? 13. Host a Themed Party

One of the most classic summer activities is to enjoy a nice summer picnic! Make some classic summer foods like macaroni salad or potato salad, bring some fresh fruit and cheese, cucumber sandwiches, and fresh baked cookies. Savor each mouthful and just slow down. Don’t forget the lemonade!
