1. Water

Let’s get the obvious out of the way, shall we? Water is amazing for glowing skin – it’s completely hydrating and most of us simply don’t drink enough regular old ass water. Make sure you’re getting at least around 3 liters of water per day! (I know it sounds like a lot, but there is water in a lot of foods we eat and other beverages we drink – just start drinking more water than you have been and see the difference!)

Drinking water helps with our skin’s elasticity which helps prevent wrinkles and sagging, while also flushing out toxins and regulating oil production which decreases the size of our pores. It’s really as easy as that – drinking sufficient water is imperative to your skin’s health!

Staying hydrated leads to a healthy overall skin tone, and a more youthful complexion, and even helps our skin heal itself faster from things like sun damage and minor cuts and scratches.

Additions to water like cucumber & mint, lemons, and turmeric & ginger are great ways to step up your water in terms of taste and skin benefits!

2. Coconut Water

Coconut water is full of goodness like antioxidants, vitamins, and electrolytes – which are all important for glowing skin! Vitamins B2, B3, and Vitamin C are all found in coconut water which helps to reduce fine lines and wrinkles, plus increases collagen production – which increases skin elasticity.

Coconut water is a recipe for success in itself with so many positive attributes for glowing skin! Just think about all the great uses of coconuts – coconut oil is used for skin hydration and hair care, coconut water is used in many skincare products and cleansers, and drinking coconut water is virtually a natural alternative to sports drinks, containing electrolytes like sodium, magnesium, and potassium!

Here are a few popular brands I’ve tried and love!

Vita Coco Coconut Water – Genuinely refreshing and has a very natural taste. Great for before and after workouts too, to prevent cramping!

Zico 100% Coconut Water – No added sugar, very light and refreshing, literally tastes like it’s poured right out of a coconut in front of you!

365 by Whole Foods Coconut Water – Best served ice cold!

3. Green Tea

Green tea has anti-inflammatory properties that are helpful in reducing acne, puffiness, and oily skin. It’s full of antioxidants like EGCG (a natural compound in green tea), which is excellent in reducing inflammation – and even aids in weight loss!

Start adding 1-3 cups of green tea to your day and test out the results yourself – green tea has a light earthy taste and tastes great hot or cold. Steep in hot water and enjoy – or steep several tea bags in a large pot and wait for it to cool. Then discard the tea bags, pour into a pitcher, and store in the fridge for a refreshing cold green tea!

Another great option for reaping the benefits of green tea for glowing skin is to have Matcha green tea. Matcha is a very fine powder of green tea leaves that you whisk into hot water with a matcha whisk. It’s more concentrated since you are using the whole leaf, so keep in mind that the caffeine content will be higher with matcha too and the taste is more potent (but may have even more skin-glowing benefits per cup!)

Classic Bigelow Green Tea is my favorite! And this is my electric tea kettle that I have and love!

4. Pineapple Juice

Pineapple juice is not only tasty but also has great properties for promoting healthy and glowing skin. It’s packed with Vitamin C which helps with collagen formation and helps protect skin cells, and contains bromelain which can help with the production of new skin cells – creating a brighter complexion.

Pineapple juice also contains Vitamin A and beta-carotene which help reduce the signs of aging in the skin – leaving skin smoother and more beautiful.

A tasty summer treat that smells good and tastes good – now is a great time to start drinking pineapple juice and claim the benefits for your skin!  While you can easily purchase a half gallon at your local grocery store, these Dole 6oz Cans are great to have around. Easy to throw in your cooler for the beach or a picnic, and the individual size means they are always fresh!

Drinks for glowing skin

5. Spearmint Tea

Spearmint tea is aromatic and refreshing. It has a ton of benefits for the body, including clearer, vibrant skin. Spearmint has anti-inflammatory properties and is even said to help with hormonal acne and promote relaxation.

The flavonoids in spearmint tea boost antioxidant properties which help protect the skin from damage that free radicals can cause, and contains rosmarinic acid which has anti-inflammatory benefits.

Like green tea, enjoy spearmint tea hot or cold. Add a dash of lemon juice for sweetness if needed. Use tea bags or fresh spearmint leaves from your garden! Just steep in hot water, discard, and drink up!

FGO Organic Spearmint Tea Bags are caffeine-free. This is a great way to enjoy the relaxing properties of spearmint at the end of the day while promoting your healthy and glowing skin.

Honorable Mention:

Aloe Vera Juice is another of those natural goddesses that just help with everything. Sunburn, gotcha covered. Glowing skin? No problem! Clear skin, sure! Wound healing, yep. Treat your eczema? No doubt.

Aloe vera juice is extracted from the leaves of this wonderful plant and is high in antioxidants, vitamins, and minerals, and has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties. Primarily made of water, aloe vera juice is naturally hydrating and also promotes collagen production, increasing skin elasticity. Aloe vera juice is great on its own in its organic form or mixed into smoothies for a quick nutrient boost (my suggestion!).

The only reason aloe vera juice did not make the cut – is the taste! Many find it to taste bitter, or even similar to cleaning solution…I just really don’t like it, and I can’t force myself to drink something that just doesn’t taste good to me, regardless of the health benefits, when there are other great options available. Same for celery, carrot, and beet juice. All good for glowing skin, all taste disgusting to me. I’ll take water or tea for a refreshing taste and beautiful skin any day!

Start Your Journey to Glowing Skin!

As with any health journey, your journey to glowing skin takes some time, effort, and consistency. Start drinking more water consistently, add in a glass or two of any of these drinks daily and see how your skin and body react. Some you will find tastier than others, some you will have better results with than others. See what works for you and your skin.

In addition to these 5 drinks for glowing skin, it’s so important to be honest with ourselves. Are you eating right the rest of the time? Too much refined sugar can lead to bad skin. Too much alcohol wreaks havoc on skin. There’s a lot you can do to ensure you keep your beautiful glowing skin – and it all has to do with what you’re putting into your body.
